Analysis of existing products - Barbering instructional videos

 Analysing other products that are the same or similar to my ideas and topics are useful as i can find the codes and conventions of the product and apply them to my own project. Understanding the codes and conventions of an instructional video will help me with structuring my own video and techniques that i can use in the video.  This video is an example of a cutting hair tutorial video. The video starts with a preview of what the video contains in a montage of short clips, this is used as an overview to the videos end result. The video uses music as well as a voice over rather than keeping any raw audio that was recorded when filming the video, using music rather than leaving the unedited audio makes the video seem more professional. A voice over is used in the video to help guide the viewer through each step, because the video used a voice over the video doesn't include any text to explain steps. The codes and conventions of an instructional video include:       - Introduction - are used in instructional videos to explain to the viewer/audience what their video will be about, it is also used to give any information about the topic beforehand.      - Visuals and demonstrations – visuals are important in instructional videos as they show the viewer exactly what’s going on and how to carry out the steps correctly.      - Narration – narration Is used to help guide the viewer through the process of the instructions making It easier on the viewer to follow along, it is also used to explain steps in a process.       -      Pace – the pace of the video is important as if the video is too fast it could be hard to follow and confusing, if the video is too long it could make people reluctant to watch the video, instructional videos need to be short and informative to keep the viewers’ attention whil...

Barbering A2 Brief

For this project i have been asked to help create an instructional video for the salon professionals department at Sunderland college. The video is going to be used by the college the teach students from the  level 2 and level 3 barbering course. The client is a lecturer teaching the course, they have asked that the video should showcase multiple barbering techniques that can support his students on the course.
